How Can Therapy Help Me?
Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult and sometimes intimidating. Common thoughts are "What will happen there", "Will people know I am in therapy" "What will the therapist expect of me".
Therapy is a collaboration. It is a relationship between the therapist and the client that is created to be healing. You, as the client, have control over where the treatment journey goes. As the therapist, our role is to navigate and guide to a healing place. Everything said in therapy is confidential and will never be shared.
The journey to happiness begins here.
Beginning therapy can be intimidating, unfamiliar or just outright frightening. Making the call to schedule an appointment is the first step in feeling better. Therapy is a journey. We take it together. The answers we seek lie inside of us but often finding them can be difficult. The role of a therapist is to help you uncover the answers as we travel together down the path you create.
At Manasquan Counseling Center we take an integrated approach to wellness. Our therapists treat the whole person focusing on the physical, mental, and spiritual health of our clients. We believe that balance in all of these areas creates overall well-being.
What happens next?
Therapy sessions are scheduled with one of our clinicians. You will get to talk a little about what is happening in your life and what you hope to get from therapy. During our initial session, we will get acquainted and we will determine what our goals of treatment will be. These goals are to help direct our work together. Sessions are 50 minutes and are held in our office at the Manasquan Counseling Center or virtually depending on your preference. Sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Who comes to therapy.
We work with children and adults, men and women experiencing a life crisis, a loss, or a change. Often people experience anxiety or depression when faced with these life challenges. Sometimes people just need a place to lighten the burden....a place to be heard and feel supported. Therapy can be that place.
The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination."
